What is this course about?
Business process mapping is an interactive collaborative exercise that enables a cross functional team to map all activities associated with a process. Together with the Lean Ireland facilitator, the cross functional team defines each step of the current state process. Once the current state process is mapped the team identifies all wasteful, error prone and non-value adding activities. The objective of this live online workshop is to arrive at an agreed set of activities that will be addressed over the coming months to (a) provide a better service to customers, (b) make the process easier to operate and (c) make the process cheaper to operate.
The mapping workshops take place over 3 4-hour live webinars. The process is mapped online using a recognized mapping software application such as Visio or Lucidchart, using standard process mapping templates.
Lean Ireland online lean course designers and facilitators are certified lean six sigma black belts with several years’ experience in facilitating lean implementation in a wide variety of sectors.

Lean Ireland courses are offered on an in-company basis only i.e. all candidates are from the one organisation. Course content is customised to meet the organisation’s need, at no extra cost.
What Will You Achieve?
At the end of this online workshop, participants will:
- be enabled to process map all processes in the organisation, in both summary and detail form;
- have a common understanding of customers, stakeholders and activities in the process being mapped;
- have a common understanding of lean principles and their benefit to organisations;
- be enabled to identify process disconnects such as delays, errors and unnecessary complexity, and
- lave a listing of key areas to be addressed to provide better service to customers and lower the effort and cost of operating the process.
You will also have your own soft copy record of the process mapped, and the course presentation material for future use.
All participants receive a certificate of completion.

The process is mapped online using a recognized mapping software application such as Visio or Lucidchart, using standard process mapping templates. The software application is agreed with the client in advance.
The Lean Ireland facilitator will be pleased to extend the workshop to second set of webinars on future state mapping. In this second workshop, the future state process is envisioned by the team working with the facilitator, mapped, and key performance indicators are recalibrated.

Over many years as a trainer and workshop facilitator, it has been a pleasure and privilege to enable teams in a variety of organizations to serve their customers better, and grow their businesses. My lean six sigma consulting engagements with clients and practical workshops have yielded benefits in the order of several €millions per year to client companies.
Prior to becoming a course facilitator, I was involved in the management of supply chain and business process improvement activities. After training as a lean six sigma black belt at Dell Computer Corporation, I left in 2001 to establish Lean Ireland. I am a science graduate, a certified ASQ lean six sigma black belt and hold a first class honours masters’ degree in supply chain management.
