What is this course about?

Welcome to our Certified Lean Yellow Belt (CLYB) online course page. CLYBs typically work in teams and resolve local process problems on an on-going basis. This course takes place over a two-day interactive workshop, where candidates work in teams. Each team of 3 or 4 people brings a process problem to be worked on during and after the course contact hours are completed. The learning journey takes us through Toyota 8-step A3 problem solving. You will discover how to identify customer needs, identify the 7 wastes, analyse process problems and problem solve in a structured way. The course objective is to enable the problem solver and team to ‘find a problem, fix a problem and prevent a problem from coming back’. CLYB certification is awarded on full attendance at completion of a small scope project.

In consultation with Lean Ireland tutors, your organisation will select an appropriate small scope project in advance of the course start date. Soft copy course materials are available for all candidates to download. In addition each candidate receives a lean text book. The course content is customised to meet the organisation’s need, at no extra cost.

The CLYB online course is run according to the curriculum guidelines of ISO 18404:2015 Quantitative methods in process improvement — Six Sigma — Competencies for key personnel and their organizations in relation to Six Sigma and Lean implementation and ISO 13053-1:2011 Quantitative methods in process improvement — Six Sigma — Part 1: DMAIC methodology. Certification is awarded on full attendance, and team completion of a small project.

Lean Ireland tutors are certified lean six sigma black belts with several years’ experience in facilitating lean six sigma implementation in a wide variety of sectors.
