“Six Sigma is a management philosophy that attempts to improve customer satisfaction to near perfection.” – Making Six Sigma Last, George Eckes
SIX SIGMA TRAINING STANDARDS
Lean Ireland consultants are experienced in six sigma programme development in a wide variety of sectors and regulatory environments. We are experienced in facilitating blended lean six sigma courses using a variety of accredited curricula, such as:
– ISO 13053 Quantitative methods in process improvement — Six sigma (published in 2011)
– The American Society for Quality (ASQ), and
– The International Quality Federation (www.iqf.org).
SIX SIGMA PROJECT MANAGEMENT
All six sigma projects that improve current processes are managed according to a five step Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control cycle.
Design projects are managed on a variation of that cycle: Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Validate
SIX SIGMA STRUCTURES
When an organisation implements six sigma, a shadow organisation is developed. This consists of six sigma trained personnel. Each has a distinct role to play in promoting, managing and sustaining the six sigma programme.
The six sigma champion is a part time six sigma programme member who provides guidance and support to six sigma project leaders and team members. S/he is likely to be a member of the senior management team.
The black belt is a full-time six sigma programme member who is expected to contribute between €250,000 and €1,000,000 to the company’s operating profit annually.
The green belt is a part-time six sigma programme member who is expected to contribute €20,000 – €50,000 to the company’s operating profit per project completed.
The yellow belt is a part-time six sigma team member who is expected to participate in improvement project and events, using a limited number of six sigma problem solving tools.
“In our OpEx journey Lean Ireland are playing a key role in ensuring we continue to mature our programme and meet our organisational goals.
It is a pleasure to work with them and I have no hesitation in recommending them for process improvement training and project mentoring.”
